Pleasantville AYSO
Pleasantville's AYSO program is your children's first step into the sport of soccer. From ages U4 to U8 our program provides children with clinics and games to assist with there development as players. Recreational teams are in place for players age U9 to High School providing all Pleasantville children with the opportunity to play soccer against other Pleasantville teams as well as teams from surrounding towns.
AYSO Philosophy
Open Registration
Any child who wishes to play may register. AYSO is not limited to any specific group of people.
Everyone Plays
All assigned players are entitled to play at least half the game,
provided they arrive on time and are present for the entire game.
Balanced Teams
To the extent possible, all teams in each two-year age division are
created equal, with similar composition of experienced versus
inexperienced players, and older versus younger players in that age
division.
Positive Coaching
AYSO's program is heavily based on child development principles. We
encourage our players to learn and grow in both sports and social
skills. To this end, coaching and communications are to be direct and
honest, while also being supportive and encouraging. Disparagement of
any player or his efforts, in any form, is not tolerated.
Good Sportsmanship
Our players are taught to respect each other, their opponents, coaches,
game officials and other volunteers, and parents. Coaches and game
officials are to demonstrate positive and honest sporting behavior both
on and off the field.
Player Development
We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer
skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually
and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the
game.
Fall Rule Changes - Build out line
In the fall Ayso will adopt the Build Out Line concept for U10
BUILD-OUT LINE (9U AND 10U)
1. The build-out line shall be placed across the field equidistant between the top of the penalty area and the halfway line.
2. The opposing team must move behind the build-out line for a goal kick or when the goalkeeper has possession. At any time, the goalkeeper may pass, throw or roll the ball to a teammate who is behind the build-out line.
3. The goalkeeper or the player taking the goal kick does not have to wait for the opposing players to move behind the build-out line. The play from the goalkeeper or from the goal kick must be played to a teammate behind the build-out line. After the ball is put into play, the opposing team can then cross the build-out line and play may resume as normal. The first touch is from the goal kick or the pass from the goalkeeper.
4. The build-out line shall be used as the line to determine offside. Players cannot be penalized for an offside offense between the halfway line and the build-out line.
